Greeting

The 11th Annual Meeting for the Study of Functional Movement of the Shoulder

I will hold the 11th Annual Meeting for the Study of Functional Movement of the Shoulder on October 24 and 25, 2014 in Saga. This meeting was organized at the 31st annual meeting of the Japan Shoulder Society. This time will be the tenth anniversary.

There are so many societies and meetings for the orthopedics field such as the spine and various joints, diseases, methods of treatment, and also the Japanese Orthopedic Association. However, this meeting is unique to others. It is established together with the 41 st Annual Meeting of the Japan Shoulder Society so that doctors and co-medical staffs have opportunities to discuss and to share their understandings to each other, and make use in clinical medicine. I know many doctors recognize the importance of cooperation with co-medical staffs regarding the treatment of shoulder joint disease. I hope you actively participate in the discussion. I especially hope that co-medical staffs feel free to ask questions and give opinions without hesitation or concern of doctor’s opinions.

The participants of this meeting can join the 41st annual meeting of the Japan Shoulder Society. You will have a good opportunity to study the latest medical sciences and clinical researches of shoulder joint surgery.

I am sure of the fact that Saga prefecture is little known and a few people have ever been here. There is an airport in Saga, or if you use Fukuoka airport, it takes only one hour to Saga city. I recommend you visit the Yoshinogari ruins and drink the “Nabeshima” sake that won the highest award in the International wine challenge, as well as eat the delicious food of Saga origin.

The hot-air balloon festival is a pastime that gives poetic charm to autumn in Saga. You will be able to see the balloons in the early morning sky. I think it will soothe you.

I am looking forward to everyone’s valued participation.

The 11th Annual Meeting for the Study of Functional Movement of the Shoulder

I am Yoshikazu Ishinaga (Soejima orthopedic hospital), a vice-president of the 11th Annual Meeting for the Study of Functional Movement of the Shoulder. I am hosting this meeting on October 24 and 25, 2014 at Saga Culture Hall.

“Globalization” is the theme of the Japan Shoulder Society. So I hope doctors and co-medical staffs will have a common understanding about the motor functions of the shoulder through this meeting. Moreover, I hope you make effective use of the co-medical staffs’ experience such as the approach to cuff tears, sports injuries, traumatic dislocation of shoulder, and shoulder pain. We have also organized combined session. Please actively participate in the discussion from different viewpoints, such as, a doctor, physiotherapist, nurse, and trainer.

Many of you may not know about Saga prefecture. Saga prefecture has two unique seas, Ariake-kai and Genkai-nada. In October, it is the season of appetite. It will be a great time to eat seafood from these seas and to drink sake with Arita porcelain.

I look forward to your participation.
